Bracknell Forest Borough Council
Designs for Lighting Ltd are providing technical advice to the street lighting team within this unitary authority, and we have re-written their highway electrical term maintenance contract and managed the tender process including the introduction of a new contractor. Specific tasks include Contract Monitoring; Designs to BS EN13201; Managing Budgets; Overseeing the energy contract renewal; Planning Approvals.

Hampshire County Council (Engineering Consultancy Unit)
DfL are responsible for the design element of much of the lighting in Hampshire, working directly for Hampshire County Council (Engineering Consultancy). DfL provided lighting design for the annual column replacement programme for a number of years. In addition we design capital lighting projects such as Junction 5 of the M27 and South Hampshire Rapid Transport bus priority scheme.

DW Projects & London Boroughs of Barnet & Enfield PFI
DfL are the Independent Certifier for these PFI projects for which DW Projects are the Service Provider. This is a 5 year contract which involves 100% inspection and certification of every aspect of the CIP phase of the project, including providing independent advice on the design aspects.

Mott MacDonald
This client currently employs Designs for Lighting Ltd to provide expertise on a number of lighting projects, including motorway and trunk roads throughout the country. DfL are assisting with the writing of a Code of Practice for Road Lighting for the Highways Agency and the Reviews of Luminaire Maintenance Factor for TFL.

Portsmouth Historic Naval Dockyard
DfL designed the lighting for the “Watering Island” area of the historic naval dockyard which includes the historic Semaphore Tower and surrounding work areas. For the trial, the inside of the tower was illuminated by blue LEDs which created a beacon; part of the Portsmouth millennium ring of light. The exterior of the tower is lit to ensure that it is visible from across the harbour and from the nearby Spinnaker Tower. The scheme was installed to a tight budget, and time deadline.

Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead
DfL has provided advice on the street lighting function. The activities have included the creation of a street lighting policy document; the verification of the highway electrical inventory. Work has also been done to provide advice and documentation for both options of a PPP contract and a shorter term maintenance contract.

States of Jersey (Channel Islands)
Designs for Lighting produced a lighting policy and strategy document for the States of Jersey, which sets out ideas for sustainable development in both rural and urban areas. DfL also provide advice and design input for urban lighting projects on the island and are creating an electronic inventory of highway electrical assets.

Bournemouth Borough Council
DfL have carried out street lighting designs and measurements of illuminance for sports lighting.
