Highways
DfL work with
several County Councils and Unitary Authorities on their highways
lighting design and management of the street lighting assets.
The services include:
Lighting designs for all types of
highway from motorways and trunk roads to city centres and rural
villages. This can include the design of cable networks, feeder
pillars, distribution boards etc.
Lighting Design is normally to BS EN13201 and BS5489 but we are
conversant with international standards.
SiteWork
DfL regularly carry out lighting surveys, marking out, supervision
and commissioning of lighting installations. We are also competent
and experienced in taking lighting measurements to BS EN 13201-4 and
ILE Technical Report TR28.
Column replacement programme.
DfL have managed the design process for column replacement
programmes for a number of authorities over a number of years. Most
notably Hampshire County Council have utilised our services for many
years.
Contract writing
DfL have managed the renewing of a Highway Electrical Term
Maintenance contract for a unitary authority, including the
re-writing of the contract, specification and method of measurement
amendments. We are currently assisting another authority undergoing
a similar exercise and working to the ICE Term Version contract.
Management
DfL have experience of managing Street Lighting departments on a
temporary basis, and of secondment of lighting engineers for
specific projects or to address resource issues.
Street Lighting Policy
DfL have created Street Lighting policies for a unitary authority
and for the States of Jersey.
Lighting Masterplan
DfL are able to create a Lighting Masterplan and nightscape policy
for any Urban Landscape. We have a partnership with an Urban Design
consultancy to provide a complete service.
Asset Management
DfL have created an electronic inventory for States of Jersey. This
involved a 100% detailed audit of the Street Lighting using a
proprietary data collection system.
DfL are working with a number of local authorities to create
verified inventory data to provide to the DfT for the LTP returns.
